About The Great Filipino American Aswang Pageant

The Great Filipino-American Aswang Pageant is a new play currently in development. We are seeking actors to be part of both the creative development journey and the final staged production in October.

Navigate a world filled with fantastical creatures and heartwarming camaraderie while uncovering the true meaning of identity and self-discovery in "The Great Filipino American ASWANG Pageant" - a groundbreaking production that defies expectations as it weaves together the worlds of mythology, camp, and high-stakes pageantry using music and scandal! This unique production is a collaboration between playwright, Kat Stevens; creative lead, Philip Odango; and ROŪGE: Theater Reinvented.

AUDITION DETAILS

Selected actors will be asked to participate in virtual script development sessions, including online readings and discussions with the playwright and creative team. These sessions will take place between July and August.

Most, if not all, development work will be conducted remotely via Zoom.

We welcome artists who are passionate about new work, collaborative storytelling, and uplifting Filipino-American perspectives and folklore.

Please come prepared with

A headshot & resume or listed document of your recent theater experience

One Monologue (not to exceed 90 seconds)

If you don’t have a prepared piece of text, come prepared with a monologue of your choice.  Or you could tell us a story of a moment that changed your life.

Artists should also come prepared with a selection of music. This can be sung acapella, or alongside a backing track from your phone. No more than 30 seconds of a song is needed. It should be your favorite karaoke song, shower song, whatever song brings you the most joy to share!

If you are not available for an in-person audition, but would still like to be considered, please submit the GFAAP Video Submission Form no later than Tuesday, July 22.

To request an in-person audition appointment, please complete the GFAAP In-Person Audition Form. You will receive an email confirming your appointment time.

If you cannot complete the form, don’t hesitate to attend, all auditioners will be seen regardless of appointment sign-up.
